Hi there! We’re the Gobers.
About Gober Farms: Our Journey with Fiber
At Gober Farms, we started out just like many fiber farmers: looking for a mill that could process our own fiber. But as we quickly learned, finding one with availability was no easy task. That’s when we decided to take matters into our own hands. What began as a necessity soon became a passion. We started processing our own fiber, and before long, other farms and fiber enthusiasts reached out to us, trusting us to process their fiber too. That’s how Gober Farms Fiber Mill came to be.
We are so grateful for the community of customers who have trusted us with their fibers and allowed us to grow alongside them over the years. From best friends and newlyweds, to fiber farmers—we’re loving every minute of it. Thank you for being part of our journey and for helping us live our dream.
Follow along with us on our journey, get to know us, and stay connected by following us on social media at @goberfarms or come visit us at the farm. We’d love to meet you!
Meet Jared and Katrina: From Digging Fence Posts to Fiber Farmers
If you know Jared, you know he’s always up for a good time—and that sometimes, okay, often, means a bit of mischief. Growing up, Jared’s consequence for misbehaving was simple: help Grandpa around the farm every Saturday at 6 a.m. This usually meant spending the day digging fence posts under the early morning sun. Despite this, Jared eventually found his career in the medical field, where he spent several years. But his true passion always lay much closer to home—working the land.
Katrina, a native New Mexican, was the complete opposite—a rule follower with a drive to make a difference. Katrina has worked for a nonprofit for over a decade and moved to Charlotte for work in 2017, not knowing her dreams would soon include a local boy with the reputation best eyes in high school. They met on Katrina’s very first day in town when Jared walked right up to her, introduced himself, and sat down beside her—and the rest, as they say, is history.
When they got engaged, Katrina and Jared decided to invest in Jared’s heritage and renovate the land that had belonged to his great-grandparents. Their wedding day was everything they’d hoped for, full of joy and celebration (check out the recap video and farm property below!). But the excitement didn’t stop there—soon after returning from their honeymoon, they purchased their first farm addition, and Gober Farms was born. Jared’s passion for alpacas and fiber animals quickly became a full-time focus. Over the years our little family has continued to grow, and in 2023 we welcomed our precious daughter, Eleanora, into the world. She was a preemie born at 2lbs (which is less than most of the fiber blankets we weigh in!) - if you’re a fellow preemie or related to one, we would love to hear your story!
We invite you to visit us, follow us on our social media journey, or simply reach out to see how we can work together. Whether you're a fiber enthusiast, a small farm owner, or someone who just loves the idea of supporting local craftsmanship, Gober Farms is here to honor your fiber and bring your visions to life. Let’s make something beautiful together!
We can't wait to meet you!
